Humility

This past month, as I've been walking into God’s will, I felt the Holy Spirit say: “You need more humility in relationships.” That hit me, I thought I was already displaying humility; however, I saw it as an invitation to go deeper.
“Okay, more humility… but what does that look like?”
When God calls for more humility in relationships, it usually means recognizing your dependence on Him, prioritizing others’ needs, and letting go of pride (thinking we know what is best for us and others). It involves listening well, being teachable, and showing grace and patience in all interactions, even the "crazy" ones. Humility in relationships is about serving others selflessly, acknowledging your faults, and forgiving deeply, not in your strength, of course, but the strength God provides through the Holy Spirit, even when it feels impossible.
What I'm learning this season is that this journey of grace invites us to be transformed back into the image of God
“For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son...” (Romans 8:29-30), and "You are being renewed in knowledge according to the image of your Creator." Colossians 3:10
“So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other... Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity” (Colossians 3:12-14).
As I continue to realize how much I’ve personally been forgiven from sin at salvation, it has helped me have the capacity to love more deeply, like in Luke 7:47 "forgiven much, love much", and the desire to then extend that same forgiveness, mercy, and grace to others, even when they don’t deserve it. This is exactly what Jesus has done for us, setting the ultimate example of agape love on the cross, being mocked at when He said, "Forgive them Father, for they don't know what they do". Luke 23:34
The beautiful part is that in this endeavour, God is not calling you or me to muster up this humility or love on our own. God does not ask us to “try harder” or “fix ourselves”—that’s something I once believed during my time in the New Age and Personal Development world. Instead, this walk is about coming to God with childlike faith and humility, asking for His help, and trusting that He is the one who works in and through us to do it. "Now to him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us" Ephesians 3:20 “By this the love of God was revealed in us, that God has sent His only Son into the world so that we may live through Him.” 1 John 4:9
If you're reading this and you’re unsure whether you have a personal saving relationship with God and want to, I want to invite you to seek Him for yourself. This does not require anything fancy or formal; it can happen anywhere. I was personally saved in my bedroom at 1 a.m., filled with the Holy Spirit and supernaturally cleansed from unforgiveness and bitterness in my heart after a short prayer acknowledging Jesus and desiring a relationship with God. This desire first sparked back in 2020 after I was trying to personally find deeper rest, peace and healing in the New Age and Personal Development space. A woman that I looked up to who was 'successful' in that same space renounced her online business and said the true peace she found was not in those New Age Spiritual practices (even though she was well known for teaching them), but in a personal and intimate relationship with Jesus. At first, I thought she had gone crazy, until I decided to pray and seek myself.
The point is, God meets us wherever we are, even in our mess, and transforms us back into His image and likeness as we surrender and receive His gift of grace available to all.
What is required for salvation is simple: a heart that acknowledges its need for God. We all have a nature that opposes God, which the Bible calls sin. Even anger in our hearts is considered murder according to God's law (Mathew 5:21-23). This is not to condemn us at all, but rather to show us just how impossible it is to keep God’s law perfectly. The good news is that Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life and fulfilled the law on our behalf. He died and rose again to redeem us, offering forgiveness and eternal life through Him to anyone who believes. The Bible says:
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).
When you believe, fully with your heart by faith alone, not works, you receive the Holy Spirit, who empowers you to live in God’s presence and experience His deep inner everlasting peace. You’re also “sealed until the day of redemption” (Ephesians 4:30). When I was saved, I physically felt this seal from the Holy Spirit, which He later confirmed in His word the next day.
Also, if you think you’re “right with God” but aren’t sure if you have the Holy Spirit, I gently encourage you to reflect on this: “If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ” (Romans 8:9). This is an invitation to ask Him to fill you with the Holy Spirit, knowing that if you genuinely ask for it with your heart in faith, God WILL give it to you, it's a promise (Mathew 7:10).
For those who have read this far and are curious about my story, how I was saved out of the New Age and personal development space, I would love to share more. You can watch my testimony below:
